Teal and powder blue, with sharp coral red fins and a tall dorsal blade, Mind Shark has the shape of a born hunter. A clear dome at the front holds a large pink brain, wired to the hull by a thin curved antenna. Hexagon vents glow along its side, and a pair of stubby cannons perch on its back like a periscope.
The brain is the weapon. Mind Shark reads the thoughts of nearby pilots, a faint buzz like radio static. It knows where they will turn before they do. Then its special attack lands, a hard pulse from the cannons that always seems to arrive exactly where the target was heading.
The soul inside was a chess teacher who never lost a game in forty years. Bored and lonely, he Upleveled to find a real challenge. He found it among the lawless lanes of the frontier, where he hires out as a duelist for anyone who can pay. He answers to no faction. He just wants an opponent who can surprise him.
