Long and lean like an ancient galley, Emerald Keel is sheathed in weathered copper and olive plates that look grown as much as forged. Rows of glowing green crystal fins hang beneath its stern like oars, pulsing with soft light. A round green lens sits at its center like a watching eye, and a line of glowing vents runs down its long nose.
Emerald Keel is an Explorer, built for the long dark between stars. The crystal oars push against empty space itself, slow but steady, and they never run out of power. Its special attack fires through the lens, a beam of green light that can light up a cave on a moon or blast a path through rock.
The soul inside was an old sailor who mapped islands on an ocean world before satellites. She Upleveled at ninety, saying she still had maps to draw. The Cosmic Collective sends her to the very edge of known space, and she sends back charts drawn in the same careful hand she used as a girl.
