Olive green and blocky, Belt Feeder is a war drone with a wide toothy grille across its face and a round red sensor glowing at the front. Two curved handles rise from its back like grips for giant hands. Beneath it, a long belt of brass shells feeds into a stubby cannon, and a heavy shield plate stands at its rear.
Belt Feeder is a Cyboron, a machine that lost its makers and kept fighting anyway. It was built to guard a supply depot, and it never stopped guarding. Its special attack is strong and its armor is thick. The belt feeds shell after shell into the cannon, and the drone fires until the target stops moving.
There is no human mind inside. Only orders, very old ones. The depot it guards was abandoned a hundred years ago, but no one ever told Belt Feeder. It still patrols the empty buildings every day. It still salutes the faded flag. It still fires at anything that comes too close. It does not know the war is over.
