Navy blue and trimmed in red and yellow, this ship stretches a long upper jaw far past its body, with a pale ribbed face tucked beneath. Silver fangs line the mouth, and small dark fins jut from its belly. A clear red dome glows at the very tip of the upper beak, and a ridge of red spines runs along its back like the crest of a fish.
Navy Snapper is a Ziefin ambusher. Its attack is the highest of its class in this squadron, and the jaw is the reason why. It drifts with its mouth open, engines quiet, looking like a wreck. When a cargo ship comes close, the jaw slams shut with enough force to crack a hull in half.
The soul inside was a deep sea fisher who hunted giant snapping fish on a stormy ocean world. She was patient. She could wait days for one bite. The Ziefin liked that. They offered her a hull built in the shape of her old prey, and she took it. She still waits days for one bite.
